This kitchen is made entirely from cardboard. The finishing details are made from various types of paper, imitation silver leaf, and other flammable materials. Inspired by the joss paper artworks by Nguyễn Đức Đạt and Laurent Serpe, we reconstructed Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s Frankfurt Kitchen. Her socially-oriented design was known as one of the first steps in building a better, fairer world towards the tailend of the 1920s. Like the joss paper artisans who recreate iPhones, BMWs, or other items of foreign origin, we have also recreated something useless, but for the living.

And, with just one flame..
